Northern Cape, South Africa’s largest and most sparsely populated province

View to Steinkopf

Steinkopf, a town 70 kilometres south of Vioolsdrif, with its “rondawels”, traditional portable, rush-mat covered domed dwellings of the Nama people. Formerly known as Kookfontein, it was established as a mission station of the London Missionary Society, but later taken over by the Rhenish Mission.
